Sometimes it’s really difficult finding time for house cleaning. You might have been busy all week long with your job, and on weekends, you just want some rest or quality time with your kids.

There are a few quick ways to making the house look and feel cleaner.

Keep it smelling fresh

Eliminating odors will help make your home feel and smell clean. There are many things that cause odor to linger in the house, pets, dirty furniture and food with strong smell.

You can always purchase those canned air fresheners at your nearest house supplies stores, but they don’t come cheap. Instead, try to openthe windows, especially in the morning, to allow fresh and unpolluted air to circulate inside the house, thus eliminating unwanted odors.

There are a few methods you can try to mask the lingering odor. Try lighting a scented candle; but make sure it has a container to prevent wax from spilling on surfaces. You may also use cotton balls with vanilla- or cinnamon-scented oils and place them where necessary.

Hiding dirt

If it’s impossible to maintain a squeaky clean house all the time because of a busy schedule, what you can do is to hide dirt as much as possible. Appliances, furnishings and carpet appear sullied days after they are cleaned.

Even gradual wearing and tearing add up to the dirty appearance to them. The solution: carefully choose the colors of these items.

You can always opt for dark-colored furnishings and carpets which do not easily look dirty, unlike their light-colored counterparts. You can select items with mixed colors; looking busy means eyes focus more on the shades and design, rather than visible dirt and wear and tear.

Alternative cleaning solutions

In the middle of your cleaning and your trusted cleaning chemical just ran out? There are alternative ways to remove stains, cut grease, deodorize and others.

Rushing to the nearest household cleaning supplies stores is a hassle, especially if you’re already in your cleaning get up. Lemon juice is a great way to cut grease and remove stains on fabrics.

For rough surfaces, rock salt is a mild abrasive to get rid of noticeable blemishes. Baking soda is an all-purpose cleaner, which you can use as is or mixed with water to remove stains and deodorize.

Vinegar is great for cutting grease, removing stains and disinfecting. All these may already be in your kitchen, so your house cleaning need not be costly.
