Home security is not something that is achievable solely by the acquisition of a guard dog or by placement of strategic technological security systems by the best of the home security industry. In fact, there are ways to have home security system without the aid of those inthe home security system industry.

Home security systems can be achieved through strategically locking every entry into your house, ridding the property of its ways that allow intruders to potentially hide themselves, and always making it seem as though you are always home. Before choosing to make an investment in ahome security automated system, homeowners should first look at the details of their home that could be taken care of to ensure that security is truly in place.

Every door in the house must be completely solid and in order to be more secure, the doors must be a door that swings in opposed to swinging out of the house. These doors tend to be more secure because the hinges are on the inside of the door and that gap that lies in between the jamb and the door is not out in the open.

Doors that form the entryway of the house need to also have deadbolts installed to them. Two commonly known types of deadbolts are single cylinder deadbolts and double cylinder deadbolts. If a patio door is something you own, ensure that the door is secured as tightly as possible, because if not they can easily be broken into.

Surprisingly, windows that slide open are much more difficult to make secure than windows that are awning windows or windows that are a swinging casement. To ensure that your home security system is truly up-to-date, upgrade your windows to swinging windows which come equipped with cam locks included, locks that keep the sash secured gripped inside of the frame.

If you decide to keep the sliding windows, ensure that they are as secure as they can be by installing key locks, which is safer than keeping the sash locks they come with.

Outdoor lighting provides the home with a great defense against intruders. Although low voltage lighting can be what is dependent on as an easy installment and inexpensive way to install proper lighting into your home, solar outdoor lighting is considered more reliable as anoutdoor lighting source. Surprisingly, it is easier to have the solar outdoor lights installed than the low voltage lights. Lighting must be done everywhere.

The entire perimeter of your home should be lit and lit well. Floodlights should shine over the expanse of your driveway and if possible, virtually every window and door of your home should have some sort of light over them so that intruders can be easily seen, which will consequently make them too afraid to even approach your home.

Investing in a modern security system may still be something that you as a homeowner desire, but it is important that the basics should still be taken care of. Every great Home security system starts with the proper security measures of doors, windows, and lighting.
