Enhance the Beauty of Your Home with a Cast Iron Gate

by Gilly Brewster
(Los Angeles, California, USA)

These days gated homes are no longer relegated to the wealthiest suburbs. Instead, many average homeowners are choosing the enhance the beauty, charm and security of their homes by adding a stylish and practical cast iron gate. These gates can lend instant elegance to virtually any home, and they are certainly sure to attract attention and make a stunning first impression.

In addition, cast iron gates come in a variety of different styles and sizes, meaning that there is likely to be a gate to fit your own landscaping needs. Whether you are landscaping a brand new home, or redesigning an old and tired landscape, you should at least consider installing an iron gate at the entrance to the property.

When it comes to choosing a style of gate, there are a number of choices. The main areas in which these differences will be apparent is in the design of the pickets themselves, the design of the post caps and the design of the decorate rail.

The most commonly seen pickets on cast iron gates are known as spiral pickets, while the most common forms of post caps are pyramid or ball shaped. Rail accessories have a greater variety, ranging from standard styles to personal items, such as your initials, your family crest, or other personal touches.

When it comes to color, there is generally not much choice, as the vast majority of cast iron gates are black. This lack of color choice should not present much of a problem, since black cast iron gates present an attractive and lovely picture.
