House Cleaning Tips For People With Allergies

by Bonny Styles
(Pittsburgh, USA)

People with allergies will find that the first step in preventing any attacks is keeping their immediate environment free from allergens that could trigger their allergies.

There are some basic and simple house cleaning techniques that people with allergies can use to make their lives a lot easier. Nothing beats a home sweet home after all.

A simple way to decrease the chance that your home becomes haven for allergens is to remove any carpets on your floor. You would be better off with hardwood or linoleum flooring since dust, mites, etc are not trapped unlike the fiber surface of carpets.

If removing the carpets is not an option, then regular vacuuming would be necessary. The same goes with upholstered furniture and wall papers. You can use tiles instead or begin painting your wall with mold-resistant kinds of paints.

The ideal temperature inside your home runs along 70-75 degrees Fahrenheit. Humidity levels should not be more than 50 percent.

Make sure that you don't have an insect infestation. And if you don't have one, make certain that you will not be having one anytime soon or never at all for that matter.

To avoid fumes inside the house when cooking, you better install an exhaust fan. Aside from the smoke, the fan also helps reduce moisture to develop inside the kitchen and the house.

By eliminating unnecessary moisture, you prevent other microorganisms and molds from growing. Throw away moldy foods and regularly check your refrigerator for food that had gone bad.

It is best to store your food in airtight containers to prevent contamination. Don't forget to wash your dishes as soon as possible so they won't attract insects and prevent bacterial growth.

Keep your bathroom clean. Most often molds here grow due to the moist environment and lack of ventilation. You can install an exhaust fan here as well to help control moisture inside.

Another way that could help prevent or at the very least lessen the chance of mold growth is to use mold resistance paint the next time you renovate your bathroom.

Don't allow smokers to defile your home with their filthy smoke. Cigarette smoke can easily trigger allergic reactions as well and can be as bad as dust mites or molds.

A weekly house cleaning routine can help people with allergies maintain a healthy environment. All they need is the commitment in keeping their house clean and they can enjoy a pretty quiet and comfortable time at home, which should always be the case.
