How To ChooseThe Right
Home Security System For You!

by Dee Charlesworth
(Montreal, Canada)

Our homes are our haven. It’s where we feel the comfort we can’t have outside our doors. But what if burglars find it so easy to come in and out of our homes?

According to National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association, at least 2 million American homes are burglarized annually. Most of these houses have no warning alarm systems to caution them or their neighbors that burglars have entered their premises.

It’s a known fact that burglars are frightened off by security systems. Statistics show that burglars attack unprotected houses 3 times more often than houses with home security systems. Burglar alarms have been well used equipment not just for stores and other businesses but for private homes as well.

When you are vying for burglar alarms, there are wide varieties available. You can choose the $10 do it yourself alarm or those which are sophisticated and expensive. As it is, all alarms are standardized and are built with more or less the same designs.

The types of antitheft alarm system ranges from the alarm it produces or the circuit that operates them. There are two types of circuit burglar alarm; the open circuit and the closed circuit systems.

Open circuit burglar alarm are installed in a door or window. It is triggered when the circuit is closed when a window or door is opened with force. Closed circuit burglar alarms are the exact opposite of the open circuit; the installed alarm gets triggered when the circuit is opened.

Another classification of antitheft alarm system is according to the noise or triggers it creates. One kind is a burglar system which sets off sirens or other loud noises accompanied by flashing lights. Another type of system also creates noise but the difference is that it is connected in a security company which monitors the areas of the house.

The initial step to be taken when protecting your home is to choose an effective and reliable burglar alarm. There are many available systems on the market; there are those simple yet reliable home security systems. For better protection, install these systems on all the entry points. You may try to add other sensors for maximum security.

It is best to examine the burglar alarm system before purchasing it; there are problems encounters due to false alarms and malfunctions in the unit. Although there are systems which are designed to detect and solve the system failure internally, it is best to check it regularly.

The general technique is to check that your security system has a reserve battery. It should also be subjected to maintenance tests regularly. With all these at hand, you can bust those burglars and live a peaceful life.
