Is there a way to estimate how much will be added to a home's value by doing various improvements?
We have a second home that used to be a rental property that is currently listed as “fair” condition by the assessors, and are wondering if improvements to a “average” or “good” condition will be worth it in the total sale value. We would be purchasing the supplies and doing the majority of improvements ourselves.
As-is it would be a good starter home for someone wanting to make improvements (new siding, etc.) along the way, but the improvements we're considering would make it more appealing to a buyer wanting something move-in ready.
YES, the 'right' improvements will increase your home's value a lot.
If you decide to sell it 'as-is'….then be ready accept cash because banks (financial institutions) will NOT lend money on 'as-is' homes.
Updated kitchen and bathrooms will increase your home's value the most.
