by Harry Webb
(California, USA)

These days few of us have money to burn, but we still want to make our homes look their best. Staying at home instead of going out is a great way to save money, but you want your living space to be comfortable and fun!.

Fortunately there are some low cost ways to enhance the beauty and practicality of your home even if your budget is severely limited. Despite what you may have heard, it is indeed possible to remodel your home on a budget. The key is to bring flexibility and a sense of humor to the process.

If your dreams are unlimited but your budget is not, just use these simple tips to get the look you want for a lot less cash.

Look for low cost alternatives to high priced home improvements. Instead of expensive granite counter tops choose the practicality and beauty of laminated stone counter tops. Opt for durable laminate flooring instead of pricier hardwood floors.

Set your priorities before you begin. If your budget does not allow you to do everything at once make sure you focus your efforts on the most important home improvement projects Grab a pen and a piece of paper, walk through your home and make a top ten list. Focus your attention - and your budget - on the items at the top of the list.

Become a do it yourself. The more work you can do yourself the less you will need to spend on expensive contractors and other services. Invest a few bucks in some how to manuals, attend workshops at your local home improvement warehouse and learn as much as you can about remodeling your own home.

Avoid making structural changes during your remodeling project. Structural changes are expensive by their very nature. If you can work with the existing plumbing, pipes and electrical systems you can save yourself a great deal of money.
