Start Your House Cleaning Right Now....Less Clutter Is Good For Your Health!

by Harriet Bond
(San Diego, California, USA)

If you're a parent or someone whose day schedule is sequenced to the hour, you're going to frown at the thought of house cleaning. Why bother to clean up and sort out in your house when you may be the only one doing that? Here are a few reasons why.

When you see less clutter, you mind gets less cluttered. Some studies suggest that having fewer things to decide on makes for faster decision making, less stalling, and because there's less to think about, less stress.

If you constantly see unread books and post-its on your desk, you may be chronically avoiding reaching a decision as to what to do with them. This leads to reason number two.

You get to evaluate if you need everything within eye sweep. When you set aside even a day or an afternoon sorting through your stuff, you get in a position to decide if you want to keep them, pursue them (i.e., vacation pictures of Malibu beach, where you had been planning to go), or defer them (like pursuing a masters degree).

You can't possible read all those books on your desk. Keep them in box and put them in the garage or put them back in the shelf where you get less stressed.

Less places for bacteria and molds to hide and stew. Dorms and apartments where singles live often aren't places where you find people who like to cook and want to feel in control of their food preparation environments. Sadly, even families and couples can be slobs. So left-overs from take outs and un-taken out garbage bags remain in the kitchen.

Think about your health, and your kids, and maybe even your pets and neighbors. The last thing you want, when you get sick, is to be in a position where you have to lie about your home's hygiene.

You can bring friends over without worrying what they think of you. We are what we do and when we don't pick up after ourselves, the pigsty we may live in is the outcome of our pig-like habits.

So when you bring friends over, even when they say they're ok where you live, they're not. Even slobs don't want to be in another slob's house. It's like honor among thieves. There's none.

How can you manage of keeping or getting a good job when you can't manage your home?

You finally have some compelling reasons to do start your house cleaning right now.
