Learning how to manage your time is something that many people never do. However, as more and more parents teach their kids less & less at home, it is something that schools and teachers have to increasingly cover.
This includes teaching kids that more important tasks have to be completed first, and prioritizing is everything when they are at work. Here are a few basics to finding the right time management lessons & plans for your class.
One of the easiest ways to explain this to children, or adults is to explain it in the context of work. Would they rather spend 40 hours at work a week, or by managing their time more effectively and spend only 30 hours at work!.
Well, everyone I am sure would choose the second option in a heartbeat. However, the important part comes next. Inorder to do that you need to teach your students that they need to determine which tasks are the most important, complete those, and then swipe out the rest in descending order.
Another great way that you can help students understand time management is to simulate an actual business. They can see how much time needs to be spent with delegating functions to certain employees. This will allow them to see the importance of making a educated decisions.
If they make the wrong decision, not only could they end up working more, but so could everyone else. However, if they manage their time well, they will be ready to go within just a few moments notice.
Finding the right time management lessons & plans can be hard, but they are available. Just look at a teachers resource website or at a curriculum guide for more ideas.
